The Year 8 South Yorkshire Cup Final saw an all-Catholic School game with All Saints, Sheffield taking on McAuley, Doncaster. After a closely played and at times, very nail-biting game, McAuley equalised with seconds to spare to bring the game to a 4-4 draw. However, not even 10 minutes of extra time could split the teams and the game was eventually decided by penalties. All Saints’ players scored all their penalties and their goalkeeper saved 2 penalties to give All Saints the win.

What a cup final! An amazing display of ability, team work and determination by both teams in terms of respect and sporting prowess was a real credit to both schools involved. If this cup final is anything to go by, the future of football is looking very promising!

For All Saints, the treble is now complete – the first in the school’s history: Premier Division champions, Sheffield Cup winners and now South Yorkshire Cup winners. The final was their 20th game of the season where they have drawn only 1 game and won 19. An unbelievable achievement – well done team!
